I’m Sahana Murthy from Mysore, India. My journey with food began in my mother’s kitchen, where I learnt the rhythms and wisdom of traditional Ayurvedic cooking. I come from a family where food was never just about taste, it was medicine, memory, and daily ritual.

As a teenager, I didn’t think much about it until I began my Ashtanga yoga practice. The deeper I went into yoga, the more I realized how sensitively my body responded to food and how I could no longer digest the processed, heavy meals I once loved. That’s when Ayurveda started making complete sense.

Ayurvedic cooking came to me naturally because of my mother’s constant teachings about why she chose certain spices for each season, why bananas were best avoided in winter, and why pepper rasam was never made in summer. These simple lessons shaped my understanding of balance, digestion, and nourishment.

Today, I teach Ayurveda based cooking classes and courses in Mysore, sharing this living wisdom with students from around the world. My dream is to make this knowledge accessible, joyful, and rooted in everyday life and I’ll soon be opening my own culinary academy here in Mysore to continue that journey.
